New Commission Piece 2

"Poppy Love"

Here is the second commission piece I finished recently.  This was commissioned by an artist friend of mine.  The poppies were inspired by her company name Dargonfly Poppy Creations (look for her on Etsy   http://www.etsy.com/shop/dragonflypoppy?ref=si_shop).  She had requested for it to be in a style similar to my pen and ink Gorgon piece.  This actually made me pretty happy, as I haven't gotten to work in this style in over a year.  In fact, I loved working on this piece so much, it may even inspire a new painting series in the future. :)
That being said, it actually took me quite a while to decide on the imagery for this piece.  It wasn't until I heard "After the Storm" by Mumford and Sons that I knew what I wanted to do.  (I'm often inspired by music and many of my pieces are a careful balance of planning and inspiration.)  So if you would like to gain greater insight into the "feeling" behind the piece, I suggest finding and listening to the song.  But hopefully the piece speaks for itself even without it.

This piece is pen and ink washes on Stonehenge paper.  I framed the piece in an old re-used frame I had on hand.
