New Commission Piece 2

"Poppy Love"

Here is the second commission piece I finished recently.  This was commissioned by an artist friend of mine.  The poppies were inspired by her company name Dargonfly Poppy Creations (look for her on Etsy   http://www.etsy.com/shop/dragonflypoppy?ref=si_shop).  She had requested for it to be in a style similar to my pen and ink Gorgon piece.  This actually made me pretty happy, as I haven't gotten to work in this style in over a year.  In fact, I loved working on this piece so much, it may even inspire a new painting series in the future. :)
That being said, it actually took me quite a while to decide on the imagery for this piece.  It wasn't until I heard "After the Storm" by Mumford and Sons that I knew what I wanted to do.  (I'm often inspired by music and many of my pieces are a careful balance of planning and inspiration.)  So if you would like to gain greater insight into the "feeling" behind the piece, I suggest finding and listening to the song.  But hopefully the piece speaks for itself even without it.

This piece is pen and ink washes on Stonehenge paper.  I framed the piece in an old re-used frame I had on hand.

New Commission Piece 1

"Tranquil Place"

Here's a preview of a new commission piece that I just finished for a close friend of mine.  After having survived some tough times in her life, she requested a painting that reflected her new found happiness and peace.  She also loved my previous small paintings and drawings of flowers and asked that I include some flowers as well.
I've always found my deepest happiness and peace near bodies of water.  And when I meditated on the theme of the painting for a while, this is the image that came to me.

This painting is done on Stonehenge paper with pen, watercolor, and acrylic inks.  I then mounted the paper to a piece of rescued and re-used wood siding that I found in my apartment complex.

Kind of Like an Update

Due to some health issues, I haven't been able to do too much art as of late. There should be some commission pieces that I will be posting updates on here pretty soon, however.
In the meantime here's a piece of mine that very few people have seen. The picture I had taken of it over a year ago had gotten lost in the wilderness of my computer and I only very recently unearthed it.
Everyone..... Meet Adriane. :)

First Portland Art Show!

"Julie"

Here's my piece for the "Anything will Help" Poor Man's Art Show happening tonight at the Jack London Bar (7pm-10pm). This will be my first group art show here in Portland and I'm super excited.  All the pieces are done on cardboard and none of them will be priced more than $50.  It was such a great concept that I just HAD to join in.

Brand New!!!

Hello!
...And welcome to my BRAND NEW website.  I've recently made some changes and this website is just one of them. I recently relocated to the Portland, Or area so many of my art events will be here in the Pacific Northwest.  All my Fans, Friends, And Family in Las Vegas can take heart, however, as I plan to do everything I can to still visit and take part in the art scene there as well.

Some things to expect.......
I will be posting here from time to time when I have new work and ideas to share,  general updates, information on any art events that I will be a part of in the future, and when and where you can find me locally to purchase and check out my artwork.

Thanks for checking out the site!!!!
